I'm Joshua Mudana, known as Excel. I'm an AI and Machine Learning Engineer and ML tutor from Jos, Plateau State, currently based in Akure, Nigeria, where I study Computer Science at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA).
My journey started with Statistics, which shaped how I think about data, patterns, and problem-solving. That foundation led me to AI and Machine Learning, where I now build practical, AI-powered systems designed to solve real-world problems.
I work primarily with Python and SQL, using libraries and frameworks such as NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, and TensorFlow to process data, develop models, and build intelligent applications. With FastAPI, I develop backend services and REST APIs, integrate databases, and connect AI capabilities to functional systems.
I'm a Machine Learning Engineer at Growth Hub, where I build AI/ML systems, including the Tech Skill Assessment System: a Growth Hub skill assessment platform that combines automated scoring, performance analytics, personalized learning pathways, progress tracking, and AI-powered recommendations. I'm also developing a WhatsApp-based emergency contact discovery system designed to help people find verified emergency service contacts using their location.
Beyond building, I teach and mentor learners in AI and Machine Learning. I enjoy breaking down complex concepts, sharing knowledge, and helping others develop the confidence to understand technologies and build with them.
I'm particularly interested in AI applications in security and security for AI: exploring how AI can address security challenges while understanding how intelligent systems can be protected against emerging threats. I'm also strengthening my knowledge of backend engineering, system architecture, and version control to build more reliable, maintainable, and effective systems.
I believe technology is most valuable when it solves real problems. Whether I'm developing an intelligent system, designing its backend, or helping someone understand a difficult concept, my goal remains the same: build useful things, keep learning, and help people along the way.
